Events host and media personality Azeezah Hashim has officially parted ways with Kaka Empire, nearly a year after signing with the renowned talent management company.
The separation marks the end of a professional collaboration that began in June last year. Azeezah, known for her dynamic stage presence and captivating voice on Citizen TV’s 10 over 10 and Hot 96, says her time at Kaka Empire was instrumental in shaping her approach to the business side of the entertainment industry.
“I have always been good at looking for jobs, but I felt I lacked the proper knowledge on how to professionally approach this. I learned how to put out a pitch, a proposal, how to read and interpret a contract, how to negotiate for fair terms, PR, brand management, marketing, and things like that. The one year was good enough to walk me through that journey,” she says.
Clarifying the nature of her exit, Azeezah emphasized that there was no fallout between her and the management team.
“There was no issue. We are very good. It was a business decision for both parties, and we remain good friends with King Kaka and everybody else who is part of the management company. It was just a one-year contract, which ended, and we both chose not to extend it,” Azeezah said.
Reflecting on her time at Kaka Empire, she described the working relationship as professional and transparent.
“Essentially, there were percentages. We had a split sheet of the revenue from the gigs that the management brought in, but for the jobs I looked for, every shilling was mine,” she says.
