The Nairobi City County Government has indefinitely closed Habanos Lounge, a popular nightlife spot along Kiambu Road, following numerous complaints from residents over excessive noise.
The announcement was made on Wednesday, May 28, by Nairobi County’s Chief Officer for Environment, Geoffrey Mosiria, who stated that the establishment would remain shut until it complies with regulations to control noise pollution.
“This is not about disrupting business but about ensuring that everyone complies with the directives in place,” Mosiria said.
The decision follows a fresh round of complaints that prompted intervention by the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), which had earlier ordered the closure of the club for failing to adhere to noise control directives.
On the club’s official social media, Habanos confirmed the developments, saying the closure was for ‘maintenance’.
The lounge will remain closed until adequate noise mitigation measures are implemented to the satisfaction of county and national regulatory .
