A man accused of crashing his car through the front gates of actress Jennifer Aniston’s Bel Air home has officially been charged with felony stalking and vandalism. He now faces a mental health evaluation to determine if he’s fit to stand trial.
Jimmy Wayne Carwyle, 48, of New Albany, Mississippi, allegedly drove his grey Chrysler PT Cruiser into Aniston’s property on Monday afternoon, causing significant damage to the entrance gate.
At the time, the Friends star, 56, was inside the home, though thankfully, no one was injured.
According to prosecutors, Carwyle had been harassing Aniston since March 2023, bombarding her with unwanted voicemails, emails, and social media messages.

His actions escalated dangerously this week when he breached security by ramming his car onto her driveway. A quick-acting security guard managed to stop him before police arrived and took him into custody.
Carwyle now faces felony charges of stalking and vandalism, along with an aggravating circumstance of posing a threat of great bodily harm.
If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to three years in prison, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed.
Court Appearance and Mental Health Concerns
In a Los Angeles courtroom on Thursday, Carwyle appeared shirtless and wrapped in a blanket behind glass in a custody area.

He did not speak during the brief proceedings, and his attorney, Deputy Public Defender Toral Malik, entered a not guilty plea on his behalf.
However, concern over his mental state prompted Judge Keith L. Schwartz to send Carwyle to mental health court for evaluation.

The judge questioned whether the defendant could even comprehend a protective order being issued against him.
Despite Malik’s remark that “I don’t believe him staying away from Ms. Aniston will be an issue at this time,” Judge Schwartz formally ordered that Carwyle have no contact whatsoever with the actress.
Aniston’s History with Stalking Cases
This isn’t the first time Aniston has faced a stalker.
In 2010, she successfully secured a restraining order against a man who wrongly believed he was in a relationship with her. Aniston has not publicly commented on this latest incident, and her representatives have declined media requests.

Jennifer Aniston, best known for her decade-long role as Rachel Green on Friends, remains a major figure in entertainment.
She currently stars in The Morning Show on Apple TV+ and continues to receive critical acclaim, having won an Emmy for her sitcom role and earned nine additional nominations over her career.
Aniston purchased her Bel Air midcentury mansion — set on a sprawling 3.4-acre lot — for about $21 million in 2012, according to Architectural Digest.
The gated property, designed for privacy, was meant to be a peaceful refuge — now temporarily overshadowed by this unsettling event.
Carwyle remains in custody as his case moves through the courts.
