On Saturday, May 10th, 2025, the master of Kenyan jazz music and the electrifying Makadem, aka His Nyatitiness, brings his pulsating and groundbreaking NyatitiTronik performance to Artzone Studios along Baricho Road.
And based on his past deliveries, this promises to be a night of pulsating beats, deep rhythms, and pure musical innovation.
Known for his unmatched mastery of the Nyatiti, Makadem has reimagined the traditional sounds of the Luo lyre into three exciting live experiences: Nyatiti Jazz Experience, Nyatiti Acoustic, and the futuristic NyatitiTronik.
The nyatiti is a five to eight-stringed plucked bowl yoke lute from Kenya. It is a classical instrument played by the Luo people of Western Kenya.
But this time, it’s all about NyatitiTronik – where the ancient Nyatiti rhythms and soulful vocals meet live DJ beats, electronic effects, and vibrant percussion. The result? A one-of-a-kind Afro-House electronic music experience that’s bold, hypnotic, and deeply rooted in African tradition.
Set at Artzone Studios along the legendary Baricho Road (once Nairobi’s epicenter of live entertainment), this night promises to awaken the spirit of the city with fresh, unforgettable sounds.

So who is Makadem?
Makadem is one of Kenya’s most talented Afro fusion artist. He is popularly known as the Nyatiti man, but some still remember him from the good ol’ days when he was popularly known as the Ohangla man.
Right after high school, he started performing music and since then he’s produced multiple albums full of contemporary compositions that celebrate the energy and lively spirit of Kenya.
He has also toured the globe as a great ambassador of Kenya’s version of jazz – the Nyatiti jazz. His music also speaks on socio and economic struggles in modern society.
“Most Kenyans know me for my Nyatiti and the Benga beat found in my music, while others know me for my acoustic music, Nyatiti jazz or Nyatiti Tronik which I also play,” says Makadem.
If you want to be part of the NyatitiTronik, then make a date with Makadem at the Artzone studios. Kosa uchekwe!
