Musician and businessman Kevin Bahati has opened up about his early struggles and the people who played a crucial role in shaping his music career. Speaking during an appearance on the Mic Cheque Podcast, Bahati shared untold stories of perseverance and support that marked his rise to fame.
Before achieving success, Bahati revealed he often spent nights crashing at friends’ places while pursuing his dreams. One of the pivotal figures in his journey was renowned video producer J Blessing, with whom he lived and learned essential skills at a studio.
“J Blessing alikuwa anakaa na mimi kwa studio akiedit. Alikuwa ameamini hakuna mtu mwingine anaweza pata hii skill ispokuwa mimi,” Bahati recalled, emphasizing the trust and mentorship he received during those formative years.
He also revealed how he worked closely with fellow artist Willy Paul at the beginning of his career.
“Mi nilikuwa mtu wa mkono wa Willy Paul. Nilikuwa nachukua ngoma ya Sitolia napeleka station ikachezwe,” Bahati said, adding that Willy Paul would even give him fare to deliver songs to radio stations and later to seek opportunities at Ogopa Deejays.
