Keroche Breweries heiress Anerlisa Muigai who owns a recruitment agency, has expressed concern over the growing trend of individuals registering companies solely to scam desperate jobseekers out of large sums of money.
Sharing success stories from her agency, Signer Travel, she highlighted how such fraudulent activities tarnish the reputation of the entire industry. Anerlisa emphasized the importance of trust in job recruitment, noting that agencies depend heavily on recommendations, which can be easily destroyed by cases of fraud.
“It pains us to see people being scammed over jobs. I can’t imagine being able to sleep after deceiving anyone,” she said.
She also offered advice to jobseekers looking to work abroad, stressing the need for basic knowledge before making any moves. She warned against traveling on a visit visa for work and urged individuals to thoroughly read and understand their contracts before leaving the country. “If your visa doesn’t indicate anything related to employment, please discontinue the process,” she cautioned.
Her remarks follow the recent arrest of TikToker Rish Kamunge, who was exposed for allegedly scamming at least 40 people by advertising fake job opportunities to her large online following.
