Conor McGregor, the famous 36-year-old MMA superstar, has just thrown his hat into the political ring! That’s right, the former UFC champion has announced his intention to run for President of Ireland, aiming to shake up the political landscape like one of his famous left hooks.
In a bold Instagram post, McGregor posed confidently in front of a private jet, sporting a “Make Ireland Great Again” cap—a cheeky nod to former U.S. President Donald Trump’s slogan.

This announcement comes hot on the heels of his recent visit to the White House, where Trump dubbed him his “favorite Irishman.”
McGregor’s campaign is centered around his staunch opposition to the EU Migration Pact, which Ireland is set to implement by June 12, 2026.

He criticized government officials for their unwavering support of the pact and vowed to put the decision directly into the hands of the Irish people through a public referendum.
“Although I oppose greatly this pact, it is neither mine nor the government’s choice to make. It is the people of Ireland’s choice! Always! That is a true democracy!” McGregor declared.
But who is the woman standing by his side through this political journey? Meet Dee Devlin, McGregor’s fiancée and partner of over 16 years.
The couple’s love story began in 2008, reportedly at a nightclub in Dublin. Together, they’ve built a family, welcoming their first child, Conor Jack McGregor Jr., in 2017, followed by daughter Croía in 2019, and sons Rían in 2021 and Mack in 2024.

Devlin has been a steadfast supporter of McGregor, standing by him through numerous triumphs and controversies.
Speaking of controversies, McGregor’s journey hasn’t been without its bumps.
In November 2024, he was found liable in a civil case for sexually assaulting a woman in 2018, resulting in an award of $250,000 in damages and costs to the plaintiff. McGregor has announced plans to appeal the decision, maintaining that the encounter was consensual.
Nikita Hand, the victim said the Dec. 9, 2018, assault after a night of partying left her heavily bruised and suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.
McGregor testified that he never forced the woman to do anything against her will and said she fabricated the allegations after the two had consensual sex. His lawyer had called Hand a gold digger.
Throughout these challenges, Devlin has however remained a pillar of strength, publicly supporting McGregor and emphasizing the unity of their family.
