Denis Okari has finally broken his silence about his short-lived marriage to media personality Betty Kyallo, admitting he wishes it never happened.
In a candid chat with Kathy, the journalist revealed the ups, downs, and hard-hitting lessons he took away from the experience.
“Nobody really cares about your story; you’re just entertainment on social media,” Okari remarked bluntly before diving into the details of his past relationship.
A Fast-Paced Love Story
Okari and Betty’s journey started at KTN, where she was an ambitious intern, and he was already making waves in the media world. Their friendship blossomed into love, leading to the birth of their child out of wedlock—an event that pushed Okari to take the next step.
“Every girl dreams of a wedding, so I thought, why not make it official?” he said. But looking back, he feels the wedding was rushed and driven more by obligation than true conviction.
“It was so fast. To be honest, I wish I never did it. I was trying to correct a wrong, but I didn’t consult God. Two wrongs don’t make a right,” he admitted.
Despite a glamorous wedding attended by Kenya’s biggest celebrities, their marriage didn’t last beyond six months.
The Marriage Unravels
As time passed, cracks in the relationship widened. Okari found himself questioning everything, including whether the union was even meant to be.
“We started drifting apart. Things came to light, and I was caught in the storm of public scrutiny. But the biggest question I had was—was this marriage from God? I couldn’t answer that,” he said.
The media frenzy became unbearable, and Okari eventually withdrew from the public eye, taking a year-long break from social media to heal.
“God told me to step away, so I deleted all my platforms. I needed to breathe,” he shared.
Betty however blames her white wedding gown for her failed marriage to Okari.
During a past interview with Dr King’ori, the mother of one said she was surprised by how fast her marriage collapsed.
“I’m still trying to comprehend how it all happened. We were together for four years before getting married, but after just six months, everything fell apart. I can’t help but think there might be something wrong with that white dress,” Betty said.
Betty’s Love Life: A Rollercoaster of Romance
While Okari found solace in his faith, Betty’s love life became a hot topic. Her relationships after her separation from Okari have been the center of attention for as long as anybody can remember.
One of her most talked-about relationships was with the mysterious “Somali Bae”, rumored to be a high-profile Kenyan politician. Though she never revealed his face, she teased fans with cryptic photos—just a hand here, a shadow there—keeping everyone guessing.
At one point, she shared photos of herself on a flight traveling out of Kenya, moments after the mysterious Somali man had also revealed he was on an official visit to the same destination.
After her Somali romance, she moved on to city lawyer Nick Ndeda. This one was serious—or so it seemed. The couple shared cute social media moments, but by April 2022, they had called it quits.
Next came the enigmatic “Luhya Bae”—yet another mystery man whose identity she kept hidden, only sharing pictures of his backside (literally).
“I am now settled. I feel happy,” Betty had said at the time.
Betty and Charlie: Love in the Limelight
Fast forward to today, and Betty is all smiles with her current beau, 24-year-old Charlie Jones. The couple has become a fan favorite, entertaining followers with their playful banter and sweet moments.
Charlie, not one to shy away from the spotlight, has even hinted at expanding their family.
In November 2024, the couple celebrated their first anniversary, with Charlie gushing over Betty, calling her his “source of strength and peace.”
