Kenyan comedian Henry Desagu had the surprise of a lifetime when Kikuyu benga star Samidoh Muchoki and Gatundu North MP Elijah Njoroge Kururia visited his home and gifted him a whopping Ksh1 million in cash.
And in true showbiz fashion, the reveal was nothing short of a spectacle!
In a video shared by YouTuber 2Mbili on Tuesday, March 12, 2025, Samidoh is seen clutching a brown bag—packed with crisp banknotes—while standing beside MP Kururia.
As the crowd watched in suspense, the duo started handing over bundles of Ksh100,000, stacking them one after another like a high-stakes poker game.

The excitement built up as the amount reached Ksh900,000, with attendees clapping and cheering in celebration.
Just when everyone thought the cash flow had ended, Samidoh, ever the entertainer, cheekily slipped the last Ksh100,000 into his jacket, teasing the crowd.
After a dramatic pause, he finally pulled it out, sending the crowd into fits of laughter.

A Gesture of Support
Desagu, who has faced personal struggles including depression and alcoholism, took to social media to express his heartfelt gratitude.
“I have every reason to glorify God for a great event. Big blessing to have guests today at my parents’ home. God bless Hon. Elijah Njoroge Kururia and all the guests who came and supported me with prayers and financial support. Thanks for the 1M support. May God open new doors for me and change my life for the better.”

MP Kururia clarified that the fundraising was a private initiative among friends to support Desagu, but encouraged fans who wished to contribute to do so through Karangu Muraya, the MC of the Desagu Live session.
Desagu was among the first Kenyan creatives to break YouTube barriers and monetize content creation. However, over time, his days in content creation seemed to die a slow death as more and more young Kenyans venture into content creation.
Slowly Desagu sank into depression and resorted to alcoholism.
Earlier this year, the comedian was admitted to Mathari Hospital, where he started receiving treatment, including Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) as recommended by his doctors.
In a Facebook post, DeSagu’s family reached out to friends, family, and well-wishers, asking for both financial and emotional support.
“We are reaching out to all of you for help. DeSagu needs our support now more than ever, both financially and emotionally. We want to ensure he gets the proper treatment he deserves and that he’s supported after his time in the hospital to rebuild his life,” the message read.

The news of DeSagu’s struggle with mental health first surfaced after his close friend, Mo Farm, shared distressing images of the comedian appearing drunk and visibly distressed.
In a heartfelt post, Mo Farm expressed his sympathy, saying: “May God help Henry DeSagu. It’s painful to see my friend down and suffering.”
DeSagu’s situation then prompted an outpouring of support from his fans, including politicians and renowned figures like MP Njoroge Kururia and Samidoh who came through for him in the fundraiser.
