Kenyan comedian and media personality David Oyando, popularly known as Mulamwah’s had his TikTok account boasting 1.1 million followers unexpectedly banned.

It is not yet clear why the account was banned but all indications point to a clash with the GenZ protesters.

Mulamwah won’t be the first digital content creator to face the wrath of GenZ. Just recently, comedian Eddie Butita’s YouTube channel which boasted hundreds of followers was deactivated after GenZ decided to ‘cancel’ him and massively unfollowed.

Mulamwah has informed his fans about the ban and urged them to follow his new account. Expressing disappointment, the comedian noted that the ban came despite his active participation alongside fellow Kenyans during the anti-finance bill protests.

During the protests against proposed tax measures in the Finance Bill, 2024, Mulamwah joined Gen Z demonstrators on the streets of Nairobi in a display of solidarity. He distributed transparent buckets filled with mandazis (a popular local snack), flasks of tea, and a set of tumblers.

I even served them mandazis, and yet you still decided to ban my account,” Mulamwah lamented, highlighting his frustration over the ban despite his efforts to support and unite with protesters.
