Police in Suffolk, Virginia, are investigating the manner in which a 17-year-old rapper identified as Rylo Huncho died.
Police reports indicate that an incident occurred on May 15 around 10 p.m. that “resulted in the death of a juvenile age 17”. The said incident involvied a “self-inflicted gunshot wound.”
The young tiktoker died of his injuries at a local hospital. Officials were investigating the incident as an accident.
Huncho accidentally killed himself while filming a TikTok music video when he pointed a gun at his head and pulled the trigger.
A video on social media appears to show Huncho dancing with a handgun with a green laser sight on it.
In the video, Huncho was seen switching off the weapon’s safety before pointing it to his head. He then went ahead and pulled the trigger. A gunshot was heard before the young rapper fell out of the frame.
Preliminary investigations have led officials to believe Huncho’s death was accidental due to the self-inflicted injury, though officials are not releasing full details for now because self-inflicted gunshot wounds could also be considered an act of suicide.
Huncho’s cousin also confirmed the cause of death as a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
“Suicide/accidental was the cause of his death. We are still trying to figure out why,” his cousin said.
At the time of his death, Huncho had 10 songs and 680 monthly listeners on Spotify.
