Prime Video has confirmed the production of a new Tomb Raider TV series, to be directed and written by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, best known for her work on Fleabag.
Waller-Bridge expressed her excitement about the project, stating that Tomb Raider has been a significant part of her life, and she feels privileged to bring it to television with passionate collaborators.
The announcement follows Amazon’s merger with MGM, resulting in the formation of Amazon MGM Studios. The studio is partnering with Crystal Dynamics, the developers of the Tomb Raider games, to expand the Tomb Raider universe through the TV series. Additionally, Crystal Dynamics and Amazon Games are collaborating on a new Tomb Raider game, promising a single-player, story-driven experience built with Unreal Engine 5.
