Businesswoman Anerlisa Muigai has taken to social media to express her disappointment after private conversations from a WhatsApp group were leaked by individuals she considered her ‘friends’.

The leaked conversations revolved around Anerlisa’s plea for financial assistance to bail out her alleged fiancé, Josiah Kariuki.

Kariuki was charged on May 6 at the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court for his involvement in the manufacturing, distribution, and sale of substandard fertilizer.

The Keroche Breweries heiress did not hold back in voicing her disillusionment, likening her fake friends to shadows.

When you thought you had real friends then boom, a blogger sends you a screenshot from a very enclosed group. Tomorrow could be you. At least I know I cannot count on everyone and that’s okay. And yes we managed to get out without your help. We good. #GodFirst,” she wrote.

Alongside her message, the entrepreneur shared a meme advising on the need to discern fake from genuine friendships.

Fake friends are like shadows: always near you at your brightest moments but nowhere to be seen at your darkest hour. True friends are like stars, you don’t always see them but they are always there,” read the accompanying quote.

Josiah, implicated in the distribution of counterfeit fertilizer, faced charges including conspiracy to defraud, altering false documents, and applying a standardization mark to a commodity that does not comply with Kenyan standards, among others.

It has now also emerged that Kariuki, spent two years in a Tanzanian jail for fraud and at one time pushed a narrative in the media that he owned an airline that did not exist.

Kariuki has been in the limelight for the last one month after his company, Silica Booster Limited, popularly known as SBL Innovate Limited, was exposed by African Uncesored for selling fake fertiliser to farmers across the country.

Senator Tabitha Karanja, who also happens to be Anerlisa’s mother is on record claiming that the businessman is being fought by unnamed people for political reasons.
