The 2024 BET Awards are here…and they are set to be an exciting event, showcasing a wide range of talent from various genres and disciplines.
The nominations have highlighted some of the biggest names in the industry, with Drake leading the pack with seven nods, followed closely by Nicki Minaj with six.
J. Cole, Sexyy Red, SZA, and Victoria Monét each have five nominations, while 21 Savage, Beyoncé, Doja Cat, Megan Thee Stallion, Tyla, and Usher each have four.
Key Highlights and Performers
The show, billed as “Culture’s Biggest Night,” will air live from Los Angeles on BET on Sunday, June 30, at 8 p.m. ET/PT. This year’s theme is “Standing on Culture,” emphasizing the celebration and recognition of influential cultural contributions.
The artists confirmed to perform so far include GloRilla, Latto, Muni Long, Sexyy Red, Shaboozey, and Victoria Monét.
Prominent Nominations
Drake and Burna Boy have been recognized for their versatility with nominations for both Best Male R&B/Pop Artist and Best Male Hip-Hop Artist.
Similarly, Doja Cat has been nominated in the equivalent female categories, reflecting their broad appeal across genres.
The nominations extend beyond music, with the musical biopic “Bob Marley: One Love” and the concert film “Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé” nominated for Best Movie.
Halle Bailey also stands out with nominations for Best Actress.
Voting and Production
The BET Voting Academy, comprised of entertainment professionals and influencers, determined the nominations.
Voting for the Viewer’s Choice Award starts on June 6 and ends on June 30.
