Zuchu hit song ‘KwiKwi’ makes history with 50 million YouTube views

Tanzanian singer Zuchu has once again etched her name in history as the dance video for her hit track “Kwikwi” surpassed 50 million views on YouTube, making it the first song in East Africa to achieve this milestone.

What’s more, Zuchu herself becomes the first female artist from the region to reach such heights.

“History continues to be written by Zuchu from WCB Wasafi Records. The first dance video ‘Kwikwi’ from East Africa to clock at over 50 million views,” read a post from Zuchu.

Since joining Diamond Platnumz’s WCB Wasafi Records in 2020, Zuchu has consistently been setting and surpassing records, solidifying her status as a trailblazer in the industry.

This accomplishment comes on the heels of another milestone in March 2024 when Zuchu’s track “Sukari” amassed over 100 million views on YouTube, making her the first artist from East Africa to achieve such a feat.

Back then, she also couldn’t help sharing a celebratory post on the milestone.

“History has been written today. Viewers Milioni 100,000,000 za Sukari zinanifanya kuwa msanii wa kwanza kutoka East Africa kufika mafanikio haya kwenye wimbo wa peke yangu,” Zuchu said in post.

“#Sukari was and still is A masterpiece.Wimbo ulionibadilishia Maisha Kwa kiasi Kikubwa na leo umeandika Historia Kubwa kwenye Tasnia Ya muziki Afrika Mashariki 3 Years Ago we released a banger !! #SUKARI,”.
