Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr has expressed her readiness to face any criticism regarding her decision to open for US musician Chris Brown on his upcoming US tour.

Rihanna is my queen but I try to, like, separate my work,” Starr responded when questioned about potential criticism due to Brown’s past assault on Rihanna.

I’m prepared, I’m ready… I won’t respond, I’ll let people do their thing and I’m just going to work,” Starr emphasized.

Starr, who has quickly risen to prominence as one of Africa’s most popular musicians, revealed her admiration for Rihanna, calling her “number one,” and expressing her desire to collaborate with the Barbados-born icon “by God’s grace.”

Starr recently completed recording her second album, titled The Year I Turned 21.

Some of her hit songs include; Ngozi, Overloading, and Rush.
