Jackie Matubia: I sacrificed my dream car to fund my TV series project ‘Toxic’

Award winning actress Jackie Matubia has spilled the beans on the sacrifices she has had to make to ensure her latest project is a success.

Matubia, the queen of Kenyan entertainment, was struck by inspiration from none other than the late Charles Ouda. Yep, you heard that right! Sadly, Ouda passed away shortly after crafting the script for Jackie’s role in “Toxic.” But fear not, his legacy lives on through this groundbreaking series.

Mark your calendars, folks, because “Toxic” is set to premiere on Jackie’s YouTube channel on April 17, 2024. The series dives headfirst into the world of Kenyan superstars and everyday drama as Jackie brings her vision and inspiration to life.

Jackie however clarified she isn’t just in it for the fame and fortune but rather, she’s a woman on a mission.

Despite dreaming of cruising around in her dream car, a Harrier, Jackie made the ultimate sacrifice for “Toxic.” She confessed that she decided to put passion over paychecks. “It’s not all about the money, it’s about the passion,” Jackie declared.

And get this, Jackie’s not afraid to get her hands dirty. She’s calling herself ‘the sacrificial lamb’ for this series.

Jackie has been slaying the entertainment game for over a decade. She first came into the scene as Jolene in the high school drama “Tahidi High”. She however left the show after getting pregnant.

Jackie would then come back to captivating audiences as Nana in “Zora” on Citizen TV, starring alongside Sarah Hassan, he fellow actor in Tahidi High.

And who could forget her stint as the host of ChatSpot on SwitchTV? She would however also quit this role and started her show, E-zone on Rembo TV, where she mainly shared entertainment news that revolved around celebrities. Over time, it is clear Jackie has been serving up entertainment news like nobody’s business.

She also boasts her own YouTube channel, where she’s rubbed shoulders with Kenya’s finest celebs, including her ex-husband Blessing Lung’aho, Terence Creative, and Milly Chebby.
