Allan Ochieng’, famously known as Hype Ballo, is currently embroiled in a legal battle following the unfortunate passing of Detective Felix Kelian from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

The situation took a serious turn after an altercation involving Joe Mfalme, Hype Ballo, and their driver resulted in Kelian sustaining fatal injuries.

Despite several individuals being implicated in the incident, including Eric Kariuki Gathua, Simon Wambugu Wanjiru, Khadija Abdi Wako, Sammy Cheruiyot Rotich, and Agnes Kerubo Mogoiare, it’s Hype Ballo who faces the weightiest accusation of murder.

In light of this, friends and family of Hype Ballo have rallied together to support him in covering his legal expenses.

The fundraising drive is led by Ballo’s family alongside top DJs and hypemen in Kenya. Some of the notable DJs and hypemen pushing the drive include DJ Creme de la Creme, DJ Kriss Darling, DJ Linsey, DJ Such, and DJ Cibin.

Others include MC Hype Don, Hype Gad Kenya, and MC Gogo.

Using the hashtag #IStandWithBallo, the entertainment figures have been expressing their support for Ballo, maintaining that he is innocent.

They have also appealed to the public to send their financial support towards a pay bill number noted on an online poster making rounds on social media.

The details surrounding Kelian’s demise paint a grim picture of events. According to reports, the tragedy unfolded after an alleged minor accident involving Kelian’s vehicle and another carrying Allan, Eric, Simon, DJ Joe, and an unidentified individual.

An altercation erupted following the collision, resulting in Kelian being assaulted by several individuals, including Allan, Eric, Simon, and DJ Joe. According to reports, a police officer identified as Abdi, who was on duty at the Kikuyu police station that night, arrived at the scene to find Kelian under attack.

Following the altercation, Kelian was taken to Kikuyu police station, where he complained of severe abdominal pain and was observed urinating blood by officers on duty, Sammy Rotich and Agnes Mogoi. He was then transferred to Nairobi West hospital

Despite receiving medical attention and being admitted in hospital, Kelian tragically passed away on March 21 during treatment. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of the suspects involved in the incident.

Amidst the unfolding legal proceedings, rumors have circulated online regarding DJ Joe Mfalme and the other co-accused individuals potentially working a deal to escape the full arm of the law. Many speculate that the six may have cooperated with authorities, potentially throwing Hype Ballo under the bus.

DJ Joe and five other co-accused, including three police officers, agreed to turn into state witnesses and were subsequently released from remand pending court hearings.

Hype Ballo therefore remains the only accused with the Director of Public Prosecutions instructing that he be charged with the murder of Felix Kelian Kitosi.

However, DJ Joe has vehemently denied these allegations, emphasizing that he and Hype Ballo maintain a positive relationship despite the ongoing legal challenges.

“People don’t know the full story, and since the matter is currently in court, I prefer not to comment on it. Public opinion is inevitable, but I want to make it clear that Hype Ballo and I are still in good terms,” Dj Joe stated.
