Comedian turned humanitarian and activist Eric Omondi launched a rescue boat on Wednesday morning to assist flood victims marooned by floods in various areas of Nairobi County and its surroundings.

Through videos shared on his Instagram page, Omondi was seen unloading the boat from a pickup truck and deploying it on submerged roads, effectively transforming them into small waterways.

The footage then showed Omondi rowing towards submerged homes, where community members had sought refuge on their rooftops to escape the floods.

He was then filmed rescuing children and women, helping them onto his boat, and then evacuating them to safety.

By Wednesday morning, Omondi and his team had already rescued 34 flood victims, with many others still stranded on rooftops engulfed by floods.

We have rescued 34 people today from 8:30 am to 11 am and there are still hundreds stranded, including children, and disasters can happen anytime! Last night we rescued a woman and her three children in the Ruiru OJ area,” Omondi reported.

Omondi criticized both the national and county governments for their delayed response in rescuing citizens from flood risks.

The Kenyan Government should rush to Mto Mangeli Athi before it’s too late! A tragedy is about to happen! There are families stranded on rooftops, and time is running out…” he urged.

Eric Omondi has recently come to the aid of several Kenyans in need through his initiative dubbed, ‘Sisi Kwa Sisi‘. The initiative relies on Kenyans of goodwill to marshal finances towards assisting needy Kenyans to meet challenges like hospital bills, decent burials, school fees etc.

However, a few skeptics believe that Eric is just preparing his political ground ahead of the 2027 elections by helping the needy.
